Commission Memories Authorities More License To The Fight Against illegal Gambling Machines

The fight against illegal gambling was top of the agenda during a training event run by the Local Authority Liaison Unit of the Gambling Commission (LALU) at Liverpool City Council this month. About 90 delegates from local authorities and police forces in the West were presented what to look for when checking the alleged illegal gambling machines, as well as being provided with updates on the latest laws and guidelines on gambling.
This follows concerns raised by the advice on illegal gambling machines and the need for more information and training to solve the problem. More than 150 machines unauthorized and illegal gambling were seized by agencies working with the Commission through England in the last year.
Rob Burkitt of the Gambling Commission, which co-hosted the training said:
"It was a great opportunity for the Commission to bring its expertise to the local police and council officers on what to look for when dealing with illegal gambling machines, because it is important that they know the difference between the machines are legal and which are not.
"The provision of gaming machines or make them available to the public without the appropriate license or authorization is a criminal offense. By their very nature, illegal gambling machines are unlikely to comply with the licensing objectives of the Act gambling intended to ensure the game is conducted in a fair and transparent, protect children and vulnerable people of be harmed or exploited by gambling, and keeping crime game. "
"All of these can have an impact on the safety of the local community and we regularly support and advice of the police forces across the country on joint operations to eliminate illegal gambling machines."
The day was introduced by Councillor Christine Banks, president of the license commission and the game, the city of Liverpool welcomed the collaboration with the Gambling Commission and other licensing authorities in the North West.
"We are very pleased to welcome this training day. It is very important that the Council licensing agents not only have updates on legislation in their field, but also how to deal with illegal activity. There is concern about illegal gambling machines and it is of great interest that we can use the expertise of the game board by nailing this problem. "
